A dating app that takes your safety seriously
Every design decision at RealMeet is made with safety in mind. From mandatory live verification at sign-up to the report button on every profile, we believe a trustworthy platform is a safer platform.
What we do to keep you safe
Mandatory live verification
Every member completes a live selfie check before they can match or message. This significantly reduces fake profiles, bots, and impersonation โ though no system is perfect.
18+ only platform
RealMeet is strictly for adults 18 and older. We enforce this requirement during sign-up and take reports of underage accounts extremely seriously.
Report any user or content
Every profile, photo, and message has a visible report button. Reports are reviewed by our team. You will be notified of the outcome and have the right to appeal.
Instant blocking
Block any user at any time. A blocked user cannot view your profile, send you messages, or see your activity. Blocking is immediate and silent.
Content moderation
Reported content is reviewed by human moderators. We follow a clear set of community guidelines. Repeated violations lead to account suspension or removal.
Right to appeal
If your account is actioned, you have the right to appeal the decision. Appeals are reviewed by a person โ not just an automated system.
Trust Score system
Members build a Trust Score through verified behaviour over time: completing verification, receiving positive feedback, and engaging respectfully.
Data minimisation
We collect only the data needed to operate the service. Your location, photos, and personal details are never sold to advertisers.
Romance scam guidance
In-app guidance helps members recognise the warning signs of romance scams and financial fraud. We will never ask you to send money to a match.
How to report abusive behaviour
If you experience harassment, explicit unsolicited content, suspected fake profiles, scam attempts, or any behaviour that makes you uncomfortable, please report it immediately.
Open the conversation or profile
Tap the three-dot menu (ยทยทยท) in the top-right corner of any profile or conversation.
Tap "Report"
Choose the reason that best describes the issue. You can add additional context in the free-text field.
Optionally block the user
You can block immediately, before or after reporting. Blocking is instant โ you won't hear from them again.
We review and act
Our moderation team reviews every report. Serious violations result in immediate suspension. You'll be notified of the outcome.
Report via email
For urgent safety concerns, illegal content, or if you are unable to use the in-app reporting tool:
safety@real-meet.deUnder the EU Digital Services Act, illegal content reports are processed with priority. If you believe a crime has been committed, please also report it to your local law-enforcement authority.
Online dating safety tips
RealMeet verification reduces the risk of fake profiles, but it cannot eliminate all risk. Here is how to stay safe when meeting people online.
Take your time
A genuine person will respect your pace. Anyone who rushes you into deep commitment, financial decisions, or sharing personal data is a red flag.
Meet in public first
For your first in-person meeting, always choose a busy public place. Tell someone you trust where you are going and who you are meeting.
Never send money
RealMeet will never ask you to send money to a match. If someone asks for financial transfers, gift cards, or cryptocurrency, it is likely a scam.
Protect your personal details
Keep your home address, workplace, daily routine, and financial information private until you genuinely know and trust someone.
Trust your instincts
If something feels wrong, it probably is. You never owe anyone continued contact. Block, report, and move on โ without guilt.
Keep conversations in-app
Before you trust someone, avoid moving to external platforms where RealMeet's safety tools no longer apply.
Reporting illegal content โ EU Digital Services Act
Under the EU Digital Services Act (DSA), users have the right to report content they believe is illegal under EU or national law. This includes, but is not limited to, terrorist content, child sexual abuse material (CSAM), hate speech, and fraud.
To report illegal content:
- โขUse the in-app report button and select "Illegal content"
- โขEmail legal@real-meet.de with details of the content and its location
- โขFor child safety matters, also contact your national authority (e.g. BKA in Germany, IWF in the UK)
RealMeet will never retaliate against users for good-faith reports of illegal content.
