1. Who We Are
RealMeet is a dating application operated by RealMeet UG (haftungsbeschränkt), Germany. We are the data controller for personal data processed via the RealMeet app and website (real-meet.de).
Data Protection Contact: privacy@real-meet.de
2. What Data We Collect
2.1 Account Data
When you register, we collect your email address, date of birth (to verify you are 18+), and the profile information you choose to provide (name, photos, bio, preferences).
2.2 Verification Data
We collect a live video/image sequence during the liveness verification process. This is processed to produce a pass/fail result. Raw images are deleted according to our retention schedule. We do not permanently store raw biometric images on your device. We do not share raw biometric data with third parties for commercial purposes.
2.3 Usage Data
We collect logs of your interactions with the app (matches, messages, reports) to operate the service, enforce our Community Guidelines, and prevent fraud.
2.4 Device Data
We collect device identifiers, IP address, and operating system version for security and fraud prevention purposes.
3. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR Art. 6 & Art. 9)
| Purpose | Legal Basis |
|---|---|
| Providing the dating service | Contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b)) |
| Liveness verification | Explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a)) |
| Safety & fraud prevention | Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Legal obligations | Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) |

4. How Long We Keep Your Data
Account data is retained as long as your account is active. After account deletion, personal data is deleted within 30 days unless retention is required by law (e.g. transaction records for tax purposes). Verification images are deleted promptly after the verification result is produced, subject to our retention policy.
5. Who We Share Data With
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:
- Verification providers — under strict data processing agreements, for the sole purpose of liveness/identity verification.
- Cloud infrastructure providers — for hosting and storage (EU-based where possible).
- Law enforcement — where required by law or to protect the safety of users.
RealMeet never stores or accesses bank credentials or account details. The optional identity verification step is performed entirely by a regulated third-party provider.
